Sssssam waving goodbye in Rayman 2

Sssssam is a character in Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes Rayman 2: Revolution, Rayman DS and Rayman 3D.

Sssssam is a purple, snake-like creature. He wears a scarf which Rayman can grab onto and water-ski across the marshes.

He is a very grateful character due to helping Rayman across the marshes after being freed. He is also awfully lonely, as he is the only inhabitant of the marshes apart from The Guardian of the Cave of Bad Dreams and Eig. This is shown by the fact that he was upset when Rayman left the marshes.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape

Sssssam was first seen when Rayman free's him from the cage in the The Marshes of the Awakening, which he show's he's very appreciative of. This good deed Rayman done, results in Sssssam allowing him to grab on to his scarf, to get him to the other side of the marshes.

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc

Sssssam makes a small cameo in Rayman 3 as a statue in Razoff's house.

Rayman 3

In the Nintendo Gameboy Advance version of Hoodlum Havoc, Sssssam returns to help Rayman across the swamps.

  • His full body is never shown.
  • His name is a portmanteau of Sam and a common stereotypical snake sound.
  • He is one of the few characters in Rayman 2 to cry (although many characters cried at the end during Rayman's "funeral").
  • He is sometimes shown in a pot.
