Rayman (GBC) is a game released for the Game Boy Color. This game is intended to be an adaptation of Rayman 1 but has several differences including the game being shorter and the removal of some characters.


One day as Rayman is napping, several fairies called Tings come to him and plea for his help. Mr. Dark has appeared and captured the Electoons in cages. This in turn throws the world into darkness and releases monsters everywhere. It's up to Rayman stop Mr. Dark and free the Electoons before its too late.


The player must navigate through a 2D stage to reach the goal. In each stage are several cages that can be broken. Whenever Rayman is next to any cage the music changes to indicate there is a cage nearby him. Between each level the player will see a save code which allows him to loas the game afterwards since there is no battery save. One thing to note is that just as in the original game Rayman cant collect all the cages on the first visit of the level because he is missing a power. If all of the cages in each stage are broken, it unlocks a time trial and the Dark Legacy Extra levels.

Every single level contains Tings just as the original game does. When the player collects 100 he is rewarded by another life. A different way to earn lives could either be finding a hidden 1-up or finishing a bonus level. There are goldfist-powerups that allow Rayman to cause more damage until he dies.


Unlike in the original game Rayman can punch from the beginning of the game on. After finishing more areas he will unlock more powers from the Betilla, the Fairy. In the end he can hover and grab onto rings as well.
