In Rayman 1, there is a certain point in the game where the Grimace button is instead replaced with the Run command. The only thing that the Grimace could do in this game was scare tall Lividstones. At the sight of the face, they would turn around and run for their life for some unknown reason. The Grimace doesn't seem to effect the tiny Lividstones, however.
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Rayman does the same face when he is left immobile for a certain amount of time, and happens at random. He does make the same noise as he is doing it, but it has a higher pitch than normal. His tongue is a little more longer, like Yoshi's tongue, except it's a darker shade of red.
In Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, the Grimace has a more helpful purpose. After defeating Reflux the Knaaren at the Desert of the Knaaren, Gumzi grants Rayman the all powerful power of Leptys, the Grimace. In this game, it is used to change Black Lums into Red Lums. To do this, Rayman only has to defeat any ordinary Hoodlum. Instead of the Black Lum instantly flying off, Rayman now gets a chance to go over to it and use the Grimace, which turns the Black Lum into a red one. The Grimace is also used on Andre after defeating Reflux for good. Each Black Lum turned red earns the player 10 points. The Grimace sounds different in this game.
If Rayman is immobile for a certain amount of time, he will make a funny face, similar to the Grimace. However, this has no effect and should be taken lightly.
- Transformed Black Lums give more health than regular Red Lums lying in the floor.
- Technically, Rayman could have used the Grimace even before Gumzi granted him the ability, as it is just a funny face. It could have, however, had no effect.
